The public is advised to stay out of waters near the Kapaia Sewage Pumpstation in Lihue, Kauai due to a sewage spill. Event: discharge of approximately 1,000 gallons of sewage from a nearby manhole may have entered Hanamaulu stream. Cause: Communication failure between the pump station's control system and pumping equipment. County crews have responded and cleanup efforts are underway.
